Project Fernwood
A Silverlake Storybook Home Transformed
Project Fernwood started with a charming canvas—a house with great potential that had lost its luster over the years. Nestled in one of Silverlake's most coveted neighborhoods, it was ripe for a renovation that would restore its glory. The original kitchen layout was preserved, but a significant change was the removal of most of the heavy dark cabinetry and checkered flooring. This decision created a more open and spacious feel, allowing the kitchen to breathe. Floating shelves added an airy touch, enhancing the overall aesthetic. Another transformational touch was the plastering over the old faux fireplace and drawing inspiration from colonial Spanish fireplaces. By creating this new shape it allowed a focal point in the living room and brought your attention to the tall ceilings. This change introduced a more contemporary and streamlined feel to the living space. It's a reminder that even the coziest of houses can be elevated into a comfortable and stylish haven.
